Davis; Hart Win Final Monthly Awards

Sioux Falls Canaries infielder Mike Hart and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks starter Colten Davis won the American Association’s Rawlings Batter and Pitcher of the Month for ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, the league announced Friday.

Hart was an RBI machine for a Canaries team that stormed their way from 5th in the west to a playoff spot. The slugger hit .333 (29-for-87) including a league-high 11 home runs and 24 runs batted in.

Hart is now hitting just under .300 on the season at .296 while he’s 4th in the league with 24 home runs. He’s also driven in 66 runs on the season while collecting 82 hits in total in 82 games.

Hart is in his 6th season of American Association baseball, all with Sioux Falls other than just five games with Lincoln in 2018. This has been arguably his best statistical season in the league, with an OPS well over 1.000 as well.

On the pitching side, Davis went a perfect 4-0 this month in five starts, pitching 31 total innings and allowing just six earned runs (1.74 ERA).

The right-hander struck out 22 batters in those 31 innings, walking just 12. He went seven innings in three starts this month, with his highlight being a seven-inning, eight strikeouts performance on the road in Sioux city.

Davis is in his first year in the league after finishing his college ball at Texas-Rio Grande Valley. He owns a perfect 7-0 record on the season with a 2.15 ERA in 46 total innings pitched.

Rawlings is the official baseball of the American Association.
