SRS Partners, the exclusive sponsorship agency for the American Association, brokered the relationship with Extreme Networks on behalf of the league.

As part of the partnership, Extreme will deploy flexible, scalable, high-speed Wi-Fi solutions across select AAPB ballparks, enabling teams to offer fans modernized experiences including mobile ticketing, cashless payments and in-seat concessions ordering, as well as improved functionality within the AABaseball.TV app. For staff, better connectivity within the ballpark will help increase operational efficiency and improve the performance of devices like portable card readers and staff communication. Further, as technology-reliant amenities like self-serve checkouts and AR/VR experiences become more popular, AAPB teams will have the network infrastructure necessary to adopt new innovations and continue enhancing fan experiences.

Extreme was also named as a Preferred Supplier of the AAPB, giving teams access to additional solutions including . Teams can quickly access and analyze generalized network data to gain insight into fan preferences, including popular applications, moments of peak user engagement and locationing data around the flow of foot traffic within the ballpark, which can help drive decisions around ballpark staffing or identify potential partnerships. Additionally, teams who choose to leverage ExtremeCloud™ solutions like the platform will have full visibility into and control over devices, applications and users on the network within a single platform, simplifying network management.

“When fans come to an AAPB game, we want to offer them the modernized, seamless experience that they expect, and that extends to the moments when they’re using mobile devices and other technology during the game,” said Joshua Schaub, Commissioner of the American Association of Professional Baseball. “Extreme has a proven track record of working with professional sports teams around the world. With this partnership, we are paving the way forward for teams across our league to take both fan experiences and behind-the-scenes operations to the next level, and investing in solutions that will scale with us as we continue to innovate and grow.”

“High-speed wireless connectivity in a ballpark really lays the foundation for all other amenities, operations and even the general reputation of a team or league,” said Kevin Wittnebert, Director of Venues, Sports & Entertainment at Extreme Networks. “When fans are not only engaged with the game itself but also impressed by the standard and speed of services like how quickly they can pull up a mobile ticket or purchase refreshments and get back to their seat, it helps to build loyalty and bring them back throughout the season. Extreme works with sports leagues around the world to help optimize their operations and create incredible experiences for fans, and we look forward to working with the AAPB to help them drive toward their goals as an organization.”

100 Game Season Highlighted by May 9 Opening Night, All-Star Game in Kansas City

NOVEMBER 7, 2023

MOORHEAD, MN – The American Association of Professional Baseball, North America’s premier MLB Professional Partner League has released the 2024 regular season schedule.

LINK TO SCHEDULE HERE

The American Association’s 100-game season will open on Thursday, May 9 with a single game between Winnipeg Goldeyes and Cleburne Railroaders from La Moderna Field in Cleburne, Tex. The remainder of the league will open play on Friday, May 10 with a full slate of six games. The Kansas City Monarchs will host the American Association All-Star Game and festivities at Legends Field in Kansas City, Kan. on July 22-23, and the season will conclude with the league’s traditional Labor Day games on September 2.

The American Association remains split into the East Division and West Division for the 2024 season. The East Division is comprised of the Chicago Dogs, Cleburne, Gary SouthShore RailCats, Kane County Cougars, Lake Country DockHounds and Milwaukee Milkmen. The West Division members are the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Kansas City, Lincoln Saltdogs, Sioux City Explorers, Sioux Falls Canaries and Winnipeg.

Following the 100-game regular season, the top four clubs in each division will vie for the Miles Wolff Cup starting September 4. The Wolff Cup Finals will begin September 14. The playoff format remains the same from the previous two seasons.

After implementing pitch clocks during the 2023 season, the league will continue the use of the technology in 2024. After one season with pitch clocks, the average game time was cut by nearly 30 minutes to 2 hours and 43 minutes.

“We are happy to present the 2024 schedule to our fans and clubs, and look forward to a summer full of great baseball and entertainment in the stadiums across our league,” said American Association Commissioner Joshua Schaub. “Our brand of ‘play to win’ baseball and the addition of pitch clocks last season, which shaved nearly 30 minutes off average game times around the league, makes our games the perfect entertainment option for casual fans and hard-core baseball fans. It is going to be another tremendous summer in the American Association.”

A Big Year In Store for The Reigning Champion Kansas City Monarchs

MOORHEAD, MN – In collaboration with the Kansas City Monarchs, the American Association announced today the host site for the 2024 All-Star Game – Legends Field in Kansas City.

The reigning Miles Wolff Champion Kansas City Monarchs have a historic year ahead as they aim to defend their title, compete in the Baseball Champions League, and will be hosting the All-Star festivities in July.

The 3-day break in the season will serve – yet again – as the halfway point for the 117 day campaign for the league. It will feature the AAPB Home Run Derby and KC Celebrity Softball Game, on Monday July 22 followed by the American Association All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 23.

2024 will be the first time the Monarchs have hosted the American Association All-Star Game. It will be the first all-star game at Legends Field since the 2006 Northern League All-Star Game.

The annual American Association Hall of Fame Luncheon is scheduled for July 23, which coincides with game day. Prior to the luncheon, each All-Star will have the opportunity to visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum located at the historic 18th & Vine in Kansas City, Missouri.

“We’re excited for Kansas City to host the 2024 All-Star Festivities,” said American Association Commissioner, Joshua Schaub. ”Legends Field is a phenomenal stage to host the multi-day event in partnership with The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.”

Alongside the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, Legends Field will also be the venue for an American Association tryout camp, as well as a top-notch baseball and softball clinic. More details about other events will be disclosed at a later date.

West All Stars will be under the management of Monarchs Skipper Joe Calfapietra, while Butch Hobson, who led the Chicago Dogs to the 2023 Wolff Cup Finals, will manage the East Division.

Merida, Mexico – The first-ever game of the inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas began at Kukulkan Alamo Park on Thursday with the 2022 American Association champion Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks representing the United States against the 2022 Cuban National Series champion Granma Alazanes (Alazanes de Granma).

It was a pitchers’ duel as starters Christian Young (F-M) and Erli Casanova (GRA) dominated the first three innings by not allowing a run and giving up only one hit combined. That hit was a double in the bottom of the first as Granma’s right fielder Raico Santos smashed a line drive down the left field line as no other runner reached base safely in the opening three innings of the game.

The RedHawks offense would eventually pick up in the fourth as center fielder Dillon Thomas led off with a double and became the first Red Hawks hitter to reach base in the game. Catcher Roy Morales followed with a single to advance Thomas to third base, but Casanova would retire the rest side in order, including back-to-back strikeouts, to end any scoring chance for Fargo-Moorhead in the top of the inning.

Granma would score the go-ahead run in the bottom half of the fourth as designated hitter Yordanis Samon hit a one-out single to right field. On the next pitch, Young would hit Granma catcher Yosvany Alarcon to put runners in scoring position. Then third baseman Yordany Alarcon hit an RBI single to left that scored Samon for the first run of the game and a 1-0 lead for the Alazanes.

Fargo would come back to tie the game in the top of the sixth as Roy Morales sent a pitch by Casanova over the left field wall for a solo home run that evened the game at one run a piece. Morales went 3-4 on the day (.750) and was named the ‘Visit Fargo Player of the Game’.

After pitching five solid innings, RedHawks manager Chris Coste decided make a pitching change as Grant Gavin took the mound for F-M in the bottom of the sixth. Christian Young (0-0, 1.80 ERA) would

end the day by pitching 5.0 innings and allowing four hits and an earned run with four strikeouts and no walks a no-decision in the loss.

Erli Casanova (1-0, 1.29 ERA) looked impressive for the Cuban squad as he went 7.0 innings, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out six for the win as Yanelquis Duardo took the mound for Granma in the top of the eighth. He hit shortstop Sam Dexter to lead off the inning and then gave up a one-out single by Morales that advanced Dexter to third. But the ‘Hawks scoring threat would end when Duardo got designated hitter Chris Herrmann to ground into an inning-ending double play.

Granma would increase their lead by scoring two more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Yordanis Samon hit an RBI double off of RedHawks relief pitcher Garrett Alexander that scored left fielder Raico Almedia Santos. Samon would end up on third base thanks to a Yosvany Alarcon’s single and then scored on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Guillermo Aviles as Granma goes up 3-1.

The RedHawks were down to their final three outs as Granma sent closer Juan Penalver to the mound in the top of the ninth. The reliever would load the bases with one out as he gave up two hits and a walk in a third of an inning and was quickly replaced by Alberto Civil. The RedHawks would send pinch hitter Dayson Croes to the plate as he worked the count full, then fouled off three pitches and grounded into a game-ending double play.

Fargo-Moorhead (0-1) moves on to face the tournament host Yucatán Leones (Leones de Yucatán) in round-robin play on Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 9:00 P.M. (Central) from Kukulkan Alamo Park. The game will be streamed live on aabaseball.tv for free and on Unbeaten.
